Dokapon the World (ドカポン・ザ・ワールド) is a 2004 PlayStation 2 game in the Dokapon series created by Asmik Ace Entertainment. Sting helped Asmik with the development of this game. This is the only game that takes place in the real world.

In this game, the players will need to fight masters to get special jobs. Players will use their attack skills to defeat monsters. Events will also occur, and some of them are special mini-games.

Story[]

The game has a total of 9 chapters.

1. Asia - The adventurers must take 3 towns with seals on them. Afterwards, the story boss town conjures the remaining ones. To progress, the adventurers must take the remaining towns by defeating the spawned town monsters. When all the towns are liberated, the story boss will appear in the cave. The adventurer who defeats the story boss wins the chapter.

2. Europe - When an adventurer liberates at least 3 towns in the continent, the Red Knight give that adventurer permission to enter the castle. No one else can enter the castle unless they also liberate 3 towns from Europe. If all the towns are already liberated, then anyone can enter the castle. Within the castle, there are 3 different rooms the Red Knight can randomly appear in. The adventurer who defeats the story boss wins the chapter.

3. Russia - Unlike the previous two chapters, there is no continent dungeon. The chapter boss, a Yeti, will only appear after specific parameters are met. Adventurers need to liberate and invest in towns on the continent to at least level 2 towns to be able to spawn local food items. The Yeti will appear randomly when one of the food local items is generated. It is random which town and at what time the Yeti will appear. The Yeti will not appear at all if no towns are taken or if they are only level 1 towns. The adventurer who defeats the story boss wins the chapter.

4. North America - Defeating all town monsters on this continent will unlock the lava cave. The story boss, a Chief, is located within the dungeon on the 2nd basement floor. The adventurer who defeats the story boss wins the chapter.

5. South America - All the town monsters on this continent are Golems. One Golem at random will be holding a relic that can open up the continent's dungeon. This relic will be dropped by one random Golem. Once obtained, any of the adventurers can enter the dungeon. This dungeon is three floors deep and the story boss, a Replica Stone Statue, will be on the last floor. The adventurer who defeats the story boss wins the chapter.

6. Oceania - When anyone takes the first town on the continent, the story boss, a Koala, will appear. He will appear on a random Oceania town to start with. After beating him, he will then appear an additional 4 times. In these additional encounters, he can spawn on any town on the world map. After he is defeated the fifth time, the continent dungeon will open. In this dungeon, the adventurers must rescue the Yellow Wombat. Afterwards, the Koala will show up one last time in a random Oceania town for one more fight. The adventurer who defeats the story boss wins the chapter.

7. Africa - After liberating the first town, Makonde the necromancer afterwards he clones himself and sends his clones to take over the rest of the remaining towns in Africa. You must defeat the real Makonde in order to progress the story and open the dungeon. If you fail to defeat the real one after some time Makonde will reset the continent by sending more clones to all the towns on Africa. When you finally find and beat the real one, the Pyramid will be unlocked, where the adventurers can find Makonde one last time. The adventurer who defeats the story boss wins the chapter.

8. North & South Pole - After the end of previous chapter, the North and South pole open up immediately and can be completed in any order by the adventurers. The North Pole has a polar bear boss while the South Pole has a penguin boss. Each boss will drop a half to a relic needed to open up the final chapter, Atlantis.

9. Atlantis - In the final chapter, the adventurers must go into Atlantis and defeat the God know as Rydeen. The Dungeon is huge and is four floors deep. He will be on the last floor at the end of the dungeon. To meet Rydeen, go into the center door on the floor. The adventurer who defeats him will get an end game bonus and the game will end. Afterwards, the results will be tallied up and the winner will be announced.

Gameplay[]

In game world

In game

Like previous games, Dokapon the World is a sugoroku-type board game where the main goal is to become the richest adventurer by the end of the game.

Jobs[]

Unlike previous games, where each adventurer would have to choose a character and stick with said character for the rest of the game, Dokapon the World uses a class-based system called Jobs. Each Job has unique attributes and abilities that have their own benefits and drawbacks. There are a total of 25 jobs in the game, with a additional 2 Darkling jobs. Each job starts at job level 0 and can go up to a maximum of 5. They are categorized into 4 different tiers, with each tier requiring a different amount of job experience to gain a job level. The tiers are as followed:

  • Tier 1 jobs take 4 wins to level up (20 for mastery).
  • Tier 2 jobs take 5 wins to level up (25 for mastery).
  • Tier 3 jobs take 7 wins to level up (35 for mastery).
  • Tier 4 jobs take 8 wins to level up (40 for mastery).

The Free and Royalty jobs do not fit in a specific tier, instead taking 12 wins to level up (60 wins for mastery).

To switch between different jobs, an adventurer has to go to a Job Center to change jobs. It requires a certain amount of money to switch between jobs. There are 5 jobs unlocked at the start of a game, with others requiring specific parameters to unlock. For example, to become Machine Body, an adventurer must pay Gutz to obtain the Machine Body Part and unlock the Machine Body job.

Each job has a different weekly salary that increases with each Job level. Each job also has a specific requirement to meet in order to get a Job salary bonus. This bonus can be obtained weekly.
